Cerbo + RPi running Node Red comms

I haven’t found a good guide which helps in my situation and before I spend to much time figuring it out, I thought to ask.

Is it possible to have a Cerbo with MQTT enabled and a seperate RPi running RPi OS plus Node Red to talk to each other and do Node Red stuff?

I’m not really interested to install Venus Large on my Cerbo and had a RPi laying around which I’ve connected to the same network. I tried an MQTT reader and can see all the data coming from the Cerbo, so so far so good.

But if I build a flow on the Pi, can it then send stuff to the Cerbo to control things? Has anyone done it like that and are there any catches?

Haven’t done it with an r pi but one cerbo to another system.

Your network has to be on point. Set static ips.
It does add a bit of time for response to a command.

Yes static IP’s and cabled network are part of the plan.

As having no experience with node red, what will a few ms delay mean to some flows? Can you give an example?

Not much for most i guess.

But if you are using grid meter references or load readings and trying system control and balance the delay can potentially be an issue.
