Cebro GX integration with Solar Edge Inverter via RS485-2 port and SunSpec

Hi All,

after research and reading through manuals on both sides (Victron and SolarEdge) I tried to connect Cebro GX via dedicated Victron USB cable straight to the SolarEdge inverter and port RS485-2 configuring port for SunSpec and ID 1. However Cebro doesn’t see SE at all…regardless I tried polarity switch. RS485-1 is currently used for meter to be connected there. Whatever I did my cable was never blinking in green so I suppose SE is not answering. It seems this use case when both ports are utilized doesn’t work. Just to explain why I do so…as when ethernet is used for connection and DESS is activated it is extremely unstable and Inverter is seen occasionally harming proper functionality. It all started with new FW installed on SE….thanks for any advice if this integration is possible and if so how

Are you trying to connect the SolarEdge to the cerbo with a USB converter or via the LAN?

I have never attempted the usb to RS485 route and i don’t even know if it is possible.

Hi Andy, USB cable supplied by Victron connected to RS485-2 port and Cebro USB on the other side… see pictures attached

I will be super interested to see if you can get MODBUS working like this, It would solve so many problems for us on single inverter installs and bad LAN access.

Modbus is IP based from the GX.
A serial connection won’t work.

Even if you change the output to MODBUS RTU not TCP?

this was the setup I expected to work….but it did not…

In developer options under Modbus there is most certainly an option for USB. Have you tried 9600 for the speed?

I do afraid have no such an access rights, will ask my integrator…I was in opposite looking for increased bandwidth on SE side… thanks for a hint anyway!
