I am doing a new Lithium house bank install on a yacht and would like to use a 24v/5000/95/120v Multiplus-II as the main inverter/charger and use my old original Multiplus 24v/3000/70/120v in parallel to provide additional current for charging (and will not use it as an inverter).
With both of these units updated to the latest firmware and connected to a Cerbo GX with DVCC enabled will they play nicely together?
House bank will be 24v and between 800-900AH using Victron Smart Lithium or Victron NG batteries with a Victron Lynx BMS and Cerbo GX.
The DVCC function looks amazing, I just want to be certain that my older and new Multipluses can co-exist well!
I thought the MK3 was for configuring the devices and that the idea with DVCC and a Cerbo GX was that multiple chargers (such as Multipluses) could be connected in parallel to the Cerbo GX via VE.bus cables. And that the DVCC protocols would then allow the batteries and GX device to synchronize and control the connected chargers to provide the necessary voltage and current to optimize charging? Is that not correct?
Different-type Multis cannot be installed in parallel as you’re wanting to do. The workaround that @M_Lange suggested is the only way to accomplish part of what you’re wanting, but since it’s a workaround rather than a technically proper installation, DVCC will not function.
For full proper installation, either purchase another identical unit to the one you already have, and install and configure them in parallel appropriately, or alternatively sell the one you already have and purchase two identical MultiPlus-IIs and properly install and configure them appropriately.
