Hi All, I have installed Home assistant on an Rpi and I have Venus running separately on a Cerbo and I am trying to work out how to get the Venus data onto HA for which I have read that I need to create a “bridge”. I have read the tutorials that are on the internet but they all suggest using Mosquitto whereas I would rather stick with the Venus mqtt broker so I would like to know if there are any instructions available for configuring a bridge but using the Victron broker rather than Mosquitto.
Thanks,
Install HACS and the search Victron you will see a plug in that will do what you want
Thanks @Daza
The HACS integration is pretty limited in comparison to bridging venus MQTT to HA. The bridge solution simply “bridges” the venus broker to the HA broker. You would install mosquitto broker as an addon to HA, venus remains as it is. I could post a fairly simple tutorial if you’re interested.
Edit to add: with the bridge, you can create almost unlimited templates for sensors, settings, controls etc for venus devices.
In fact i stumbled across a tutorial for that MQTT bridge, (funnily enough I couldn’t find it by searching but it is on the old forum archive) and it’s up and running. Now I’m trying to get the “remote console” card working. It’s a slow process !
I would be very interested in a short tutorial!
Can you post a link to that forum archive post?
When creating mqtt sensors there are so many factors to consider. A little reading through home assistant documentation goes a long way. For a starting point I have uploaded an example of a yaml file for my multiplus. I have removed my system id. Use any text editor to open the file. This can provide a good starting point for anyone interested.
multiplus.yaml.zip (2.0 KB)
I will have a look and see if I can find it again.
I think this is it but I can’t be sure:
