DESS and octopus intelligent go

Hi,

I’ve recently got octopus intelligent go tarrif. im struggling with the batteries discharging through victon on a dynamic charge. ive been trying to create a solution on home assistant but struggling to gain control of the batteries through API, modbus or now mqtt. it looks like the victron DESS should sort this for me though? Ive set this up and given it my octopus details, but its not picking up electric rates. Its constant at about 22p rather than the 7p at night and then any dynamic charge periods it sees. im not sure whats going wrong. (ID c0619ab1ed1c). and or, can anyone suggest the easiest way to communicate with victron from HA to charge the battery when a charge period is detected (this does seem to be available in the octopus API). Im new to HA and trying to lean quickly.

It doesn’t detect the 30min charges, only the intelligent dispatch, if you want 30mins integrate the EV charger or put a Shelly on the charger so that it can force charge when that does. You can use keep battery charge in an automation and then return it to it’s normal state hope I interpreted what you want correctly

Thanks, so I can use keep batteries charged in HA. Do you know what the “address” and values are for that? I’m struggling to match them.

Give me a sec I’ll look it up took me awhile could figure out how others were making Victron work in HA

So you need to do a helper to make a switch and a script that’s what I’ve done anyway.

ok thank you. does this communicate via MQTT? im struggling just to get the communication going with victron

Using modbus
