Hi, relatively recently changed our old LA batteries for AGM deep cycle. We have a 24v system so have two 12v connected in series. Old batteries were 140ah new ones are 125ah.The batteries are charging off either generator and battery charger or the engine. Solar is now charging more during the day as we come in to spring. Have an inverter but at the moment not usually using it so nearly all load is 24v. The batteries don’t (according to the bmv at least) charge off the engine - had engine running for 1.5 hours with revs and bmv %soc didn’t change while running or even after turning engine off. If when engine is running we use the inverter and a 15 min wash on washing machine the soc drops significantly.
Yesterday Bmv was reading 75% so I used generator and battery charger - bmv soc reading slowly crept up but battery charger almost immediately went to absorption, and the mppt likewise. This morning soc is 64% but voltage is 24.9 and the system is not behaving like I would expect if soc was that low (ie lights, water pump all working, no flickering etc). all connections seem ok. I think there is more than one issue, so obviously the alternator or connection from it, but also the bmv wiring, and/or a fuse(s). Battery voltage is correct, confirmed with multimeter. I’m a total beginner so apologies.
Any ideas please?
