We recently installed a new Bluesolar 150/70 MPPT but until it was connected to the Cerbo with a comm cable, it was not outputting any amps. In another system we have 2 150/100s that are not connected to any cerbo - just PV and Batteries and work fine.
Someone said that there was some setting we could modify so the 150/70 would not need a comm cable to output. Can someone please point me at the appropriate setting that controls this?
I have already looked in the manual for this MPPT and cannot find any mention of how to control this.
Bluesolar 150/70, and yes I am asking where to find that setting to not require a comm cable connected as in if connected to a LIPO without having a Cerbo involved. It works fine with the Cerbo, but I want to be able to use it without the Cerbo.
You installed the MPPT without a connection to the GX device and it didn’t work until you connected it to the GX device?
Or did you installed it with a connection to the GX device and stopped working after disconnecting the communication to the GX device?
If you have a managed battery and you disconnect the communication to the MPPT it stops working, that’s normal.
You than have to connect to the MPPT with VictronConnect and reset the MPPT to factory default.
That was not our experience. We already had 2 other identical MPPTs connected to our Cerbo but the 3rd did not arrive with the comm cable. When il we removed the comm cable from one of the other MPPTs and hooked the 3rd to the Cerbo, it started working. When we put the comm cable back on the 2nd MPPT it resumed operation without any need to reset anything.
I have the manual in front of me and nowhere do I see any mention of how to resolve this. I do not understand why anyone who reads this thread does not understand that I am seeking assistance, not pointers to manuals that I already have consulted.
It is possible it detected the battery voltage incorrectly so it wont work without comms.
Update the unit and program it. You can do it over the vrm with victron connect (when it is connected to the cerbo) or use the ve direct to bt dongle.
The only difference really between these units and the smart is there is no bluetooth module.
Here is the blue solar mppts product page. All documentation including manuals and datsheets are at the bottom.
What I noticed is that the physical appearance is not the same as the manual - see my pic above - no remote or relay connections on the right side bottom.
The product page also has pictures of what it should be.
The ve directs are usually on the right on blue solar mppts.
And the 150/70 doesn’t have a remote on off, not all victron mppts do. I have a blue solar 150/70. No remote.
You asked for a resolution. The solution is to program it. (Although i have some reservations as to whether that is a genuine product)
The manual (rev 6 1/2024) shows the ve direct port on the left. I do see that the image on the product page does not match the manual - perhaps there has been some redesigning going on.
You tell me to program the unit to resolve the issue of it not sending out power without the comm cable connected to the Cerbo - fair enough. What exactly am I supposed to program?
This is precisely what I have been asking about since the beginning. I do not see anything in the manual that tells me which setting would control this.
I was not aware that there are non-genuine Victron products being sold.
If you have programmed it then you will see it. It is not hidden
If you connect it to the GX with an ESS controlled system or BMS connected to it it immediately goes to external control (you can’t stop it)
