Hello,
I recently purchased the blue smart 65 12/15 amp charger as I wanted something to keep my batteries topped off while using lights and 12 volt appliances. I am a semi- truck driver so my setup is 4 lead acid 100ah batteries. Wasn’t too concerned with charging them as my alternator on my semi would do the job, just wanted to make sure I’d have enough juice to restart the truck.
First night I used it, I put it in power supply mode and it instantly put out 15 amps. Went to sleep and woke up to only 1 amp even though the load size hasn’t changed. Now the charger no matter what settings I try won’t put out more than 1amp usually hovering around .7 amps. It detects the battery voltage but never goes higher than 12.5 when it says it’s charging. Quickly goes from bulk to absorption even though the batteries can show 12.2 volts. When I restart the truck the alternator instantly puts out 50+ amps which lets me know the batteries definitely need a charge. They are all brand new as well only 4 months old.
If I disconnect the leads from the battery it will shoot up to 14 volts but as soon as I connect them again back down to 12.2 and 0.7 amps. Hooked the leads up to a 12 volt light and it provided power. Hooked the leads directly to my inverter and it powered it. But as soon as I hooked up a charger for my battery powered vacuum cleaner to charge the battery it instantly crapped out.
Needed some help, thank you.
