Best “Discharge floor” parameter LFP

What is ‘best’ “Discharge floor” parameter (12v 300Ah LFP)?

I’d like to improve my Smartshunt SOC estimate.

Wonder what the wisdom-of-the-crowd thinks?

(I see Default’s 50% Lead acid, Think 5% too low)

Depends on your battery. I have a battery that is discharged to 0% every day (has been for 5 years) it still has full capacity.

5-10% is ok if your cells are not perfectly balanced on the lower end.

Thank you LX,

I don’t understand how “Discharge floor“ % affects the SOC estimate.

Raising a new Q. Cell balance. Dumfume battery offers no Bluetooth communication with BMS, so I’m left to trying to keep it a t 14.2v long-enough to self balance, Am I thinking about it correctly?

Sun might shine again tomorrow, charge controller will report energy sent to battery at 14.2v in Absorption. Give me some insight to capacity.

(It would still be educational to understand how “Discharge floor“ % affects the SOC estimate.)

It doesn’t it affects the time to go calculation

Summary

Discharge floor

In VictronConnect see: Setting > Battery > Discharge floor

This setting is used in “the time to go” calculation and is set at 50% by default for lead-acid batteries. However, lithium batteries usually can be discharged significantly deeper than 50%. The discharge floor can be set to a value between 10 and 20%, unless the battery supplier advises otherwise

What can happen at lower SOC is one cell if it is weaker than other can cause the battery to shut down before it is expected.
So if you know you might not be able to begin a recharge in a short period of time, don’t discharge it so far. There is a warning box with more information below the text on the link above.
