Hi guys. Newbie here. Just had our system fitted. 15.5kw panels (31x500w)- (solaredge 10k inverter) , Victron Quttro 48/10k inverter, Cerbo-s GX and 28kwhPylontech US5000 batteries (plus Eddi and Zappi)
I simply want to be able to trigger a battery dump (export) to grid when I trigger it… eventually scheduled , but for now just trigger something to make it happen.
Ive loaded in the large softwate version on the victron and activated node red and logged in via laptop to the blank node red desktop.
Or even any simpler way of doing this. On my mates givEnergy system it just has a button on the app!! Thanks all.
Ok thanks Ill take a look at that. Any negative value? Or will minus 1 say dump the whole usable battery? Or do you set how much to expoet? Can this be scheduled do you know please? Force charge can be scheduled which is why I ask. Many thanks.
If you write -1000, the multiplus will start feeding 1000W to the grid. If you keep that for an hour, it’s 1 kWh drained from the battery.
Nope, discharge / feedin cannot be scheduled
ps.: If you want to buy energy cheap and feed in, when expensive - you should look at DESS (Dynamic ESS) - It has a trading function, which is supposed to do all that automatically
DESS is a cloud based service, accessible through VRM.
That doesn’t make sence at all. When the battery is full, you can export any excess PV to the grid anyway.
Emptying the battery in the morning to be able to absorb more pv just causes wear on the batteries, losses due to conversion - with no real difference to just feeding in, when you reach 100% soc.
(Eccept you have variable feedin prices and it is of value to feedin in the early morning)
So yeah, in that case your best choice is to manually implement control of the grid setpoint as needed.
Thanks for this. Had some nightmares with DESS as apparently others are using it as after activation, on the remote console it gives 4 you options, off, buy, sell, auto. On mine it says only auto and off. I upgraded victron firmware to the beta version to see if it changed but it didnt.(should I roll it back or are beta releases normally pretty stable?)
I am new to this, but i think it could make sense, as im trying to maximise grid sales to recoup the 35k Ive spent as quickly as possible. The us5000 pylomtech batteries are good for 7000-8000 cycles so about 16-20 years so the cost benefit of export outweighs cycle costs. Especially in winter where I can export at my max 7.5kw for longer with batteries filling the export gap between solar generation at say 4kw and my max of 7.5kw export. I may be wrong but seems like that would work. Ill forget dess for now and try your grid setpoint option later today to see if I can get it to work. Thanks for your help.
In the remote console, you can just force it off, or set it to auto, which just enables “receiving of DESS Schedules” so to say.
Actual configuration then is taking place through the vrm portal, where you configure all the parameters and where schedules are created and send to your device. (Burger Menu → Settings → Dynamic ESS)
Yes, I do., using the phone app, however when I then go into dess through the console, the settings only offer off, or auto. I think there should also be buy and sell options there. The only thing I can think of , is that either the options have been removed in recent updates, or as Ive not got my export mpan set up yet, it cant offer me those settings (however my solar is exporting fine when batts full)
Hmm, in the remote console I also just have off or auto.
Can’t tell if anything else but “auto” is needed to make it work. As of now, there was no need to import from Grid to battery. (And selling is prohibited here anyway)
But winters coming, will see if it’s operable or If I have something missing as well.
