Battery compatibility with Victron Orion-Tr Smart Isolated DC-DC Charger (12/24-15, 360W)

Hello,

Victron Orion-Tr Smart Isolated DC-DC Charger (12/24-15, 360W):
For this charger the the datasheet mentions Cont. output current at 15A

The battery i’m planning to use says Max charging current is 15A.

Would you suggest using this battery with the victron charger or the battery’s max charging current is just too close to the chargers output current?

Don’t see any reason not to use this combination. Though a battery wiht max charge rate of 15A must be fairly small. Does it have any built in BMS?

Yes, it has a built-in BMS.

The battery is intentionally small, as it’s only intended to provide auxiliary power. Its primary role is to keep the vacuum pumps running for a short duration in the event of a power loss(e.g., engine stall).

Really? On what…? - Just being curious.
However, I don’t see any problem, and the 15A may be adjustable downward, either in configuration, or by cable selection - sometimes wire resistance is useful..

No sadly not. The only Orions that allow for adjusting the max current are the Orion XS/1400. All others only allow for voltages to be set

OK, so try it and see. Current can be limited by using relatively thin wire (1mm^2 is good for 15A), or by setting the charge voltage down a bit. hopefully the BMS will not cut off on exactly 15A charge current, but will have a small tolerance above this. The calls of the battery will also be able to cope with a little above C/2.
