6KW 120/240VAC generator stepdown to full power at 120Vac using 100amp autoformer. How do I get full power of the generator (120/240) to 120VAC generator input to 5KW Victron 120Vac inverter? The wiring diagram shows connections of 120V and 0v only on output of transformer. However the actual product shows input wiring shows L2 going through the circuit breaker then hard wired to the L2 120Vac output terminal. With no connection shown on the diagram, how are we getting full 6KW 120 Vac output to the generator input of the inverter? Does L1 and L2 outputs of transformer need to be bussed? Please send me a wiring diagram that shows how to get full 6KW output at120Vac to inverter generator input, Thanks!
The Victron Autotransformer has a 28A continuous neutral current limitation.
Regardless of the model (100A or 32A breaker).
Above that it will overheat and eventually trip the thermal protection.
I believe it will do 30A for half an hour (check the manual).
28A * 120V = 3360W, which is well short of what you are hoping for (sorry).
The L2 is 180 degrees out of phase, you cannot bus that with L1 as it will trip the breaker.
Also, note that in step down mode you do not connect the neutral from the generator!
The autotransformer should get only L1 and L2 at 240V from the generator.
The neutral is created by the autotransformer.
Hi Rick,
Yes, I am aware of the specifications of the transformer, thank you. My basic question is: If I have a 6KW 120/240 Vac generator, what/how can I get the maximum 120Vac output KW of the transformer?
