I’ve been away from the boat for a bit, and only get out a few times a year I try to take a lot of notes, but they’re not helping me this time!
The wakespeed and new Balmar alternator are recently installed in the last year. I’m 99% certain it was working just fine on my last trip. When connected to shore power the system charges just fine - so we know a good portion of the system is talking properly. However I’ve gone underway and the alternator is not charging.
The Cerbo sees the regulator / alternator, and is making some data available:
I understand that field drive showing 0% might be a bug in the firmware (I’m running 3.66)
I thought maybe SOC wasn’t low enough to charge, as The current SOC is 98%. But yesterday I dropped into the 80s and it still didn’t charge. When on shore power it will keep it topped up even with a slight drop.
Any suggestions on where / how to start troubleshooting this? Thanks.
Thanks for the fast response. That makes sense about needing to show external controlled.
One quick question - this means I need to configure the Wakespeed itself? I reviewed the manual and this doesn’t appear to be a dip switch setting I guess that means bust out the cable and laptop to configure this setting (and of course required for firmware update).
I plan to be anchor tonight so I’ll have to see what I can accomplish from there!
Bad news: no proper cable in board to program the wakespeed!
Good News. We used enough battery to get down to about 84% overnight. When we got underway this morning she charged right back up to 100% this trip is safe but I have some work to do
