Alarm / high cell voltage - help

Hi everyone
I do not know how to deal with this and PLEASE !! Don`t send me to the manual because its not in it .

1 Is there any Tech out there who can tell me how to deal with
ALARM HIGH CELL VOLTAGE

I contact Victron - useless

I contact the supplier of Victron and Pylontech useless also

I have slightly lowered the Voltage as someone who posts about Victron on UTUBE
Still the situation has not changed

I had introduced a NEW ! PYLONTECH 5000 C along side my other PYLONTECH

I Bought 4 New 440 w Solar panels to introduce more to the system
nothing was happening before introduced these new items

I am sure it is something simple
I AM ( NOT ) a solar Electrician

If you are offering a resolution please ensure you are qualified in Installing Victron and Pylontech batteries please with a
STEP BY STEP GUIDE
(Moderated)

I would be very grateful

or email me direct

Thanks

Troy

Just take google and write

Pylontech high cell voltage

And you’ll have 100 answers…

https://www.victronenergy.com/live/battery_compatibility:pylontech_phantom#high_cell_voltage_warning_or_alarm_shown_on_battery_status

Everything configured correctly?

Can you please add some more information about your system?
Maybe some screenshots.

All firmware up to date?

During the very first charging this can happen.
The cells need to be balanced.
Set the system to charging an reduce the current and let the system time to balance the cells.

@Victron-Troy
I have removed your email otherwise RIP to your inbox death by spam. If you aren’t bothered by that then feel free to re add it to your post.

Did you put the new battery as the master? Are they daisy chained?

I am assuming you don’t have a battery problem here.

I had to cap the charge voltage in DVCC (to 52.4-8) some pylon FW is daft.
Keep batteries charged for about 5 days if they are new.

If you have programmed according to the guide and the FW updates - linked by M_Lange, that would be all that is left.

Hi my friends if you read my post

I wrote to Pylontech no answer no help from Victron who might sell a good product but there not interested in aftersales

I said spam? As in spam email and other nonsense stuff? Appreciate you have some strong feels right now, but i relaly was trying to look out for your best interests there. Seems like a personal email address.

They are a bit slow. Probably have 1000s of emails a day.

Usually the supply network is supposed to provide the help.

And the forum. Which is now where you are.

Good evening Mattias

Troy

when you ask what is configured what exactly are you saying that needs configuring ?

I have done all I think i need to do

Yes
i could post some screen shots if you like
what are we talking about on the Victron app under the battery section
or on the VRM ?

Thanks Troy

Oh about the only thing I have not tried is changing the 2 batteries around one is a year old the recent one is New

Thanks Trot

The pylontec manual explains that the new one is always the master.

My apologies. Your post is restored how you left it.

You clearly have a Pylontech problem, why are you stomping around in the Victron community ?

First thing, someone sold you the products. So they should be the first who support you.

Reaching manufacturers first, is like someone told you, time consuming - they have tons of emails, and they have a distributors network to support end customers first. In both brand cases.

Asking on forum, yes, proper direction. But saying that someone else is useless … not a good way to start, as we now risking being called useless when you ask for help in other place

You didn’t wrote any details. Just an error message. Not mentioning is it on Victron or battery side. Not mentioning about what voltage you have currently measured. What levels of alarms you have set.

But … asking for help.

So let’s try. I assume that error appears on the Victron side. I also assume, that you have batteries and Victron system connected via communication cable. I assume again, that your Victron is set to monitor the voltage, rather than rely on the BMS in the battery. And again I assume that levels of alarm set on the battery and in the Victron system are different, so something normal for the BMS is not normal for the Victron.

I’m right?

(Moderator note: @Victron-Troy The Yelling in capitals has been deleted from this and your first post. You can restore the meaning of it if you choose, but do it responsibly. We can appreciate your need to vent your displeasures, but doing this to people trying to help you isn’t the way. This thread has also been flagged by another user as disrespectful. No more warnings.

I just realized about one more detail - your history regarding the useless people around you distracted me initially.

It’s not a high voltage on the battery system as I usually saw in the people setups, but cell voltage. So turning it off on the Victron will not help.

Question, what exact models of Pylontech you have? Old and new. List all of them.

Second question, do you have this error, when you disconnect the new one from the setup?

  • did you balanced the new bank after the purchase?

This is a topic asked and answered many, many times.
Recently, the high voltage warning was renamed to state “high cell voltage”, this was documented in release notes and it was done because “high voltage” is a misleading statement when the BMS is sending an alarm that one cell has exceeded thresholds.

The battery setup document still refers to high voltage warnings, but the advice in there is correct.

Cell imbalances, which is what this alarm is about, are common on new batteries which need time to balance, and is best addressed by leaving the battery on ESS keep charged mode for a few days.
A warning is in itself not a problem, if it persists then a mail to pylontech support is necessary. While they are not always very fast to respond, experience shows they do, but typically their local distributor should be equipped to help as well.

This issue is something well documented and discussed, and any experienced installer should be familiar with them and able to assist.
