500A smart shunt reading voltage over 10x higher than what it is?

so because the multiplus II kept thinking 48v was max SOC I ordered a shunt so I could manually tell it what its max voltage is

device auto updated without me even allowing it to do a update telling me I could not use the phone until update complete

but then the smart shunts not reading voltage correctly

voltage at the time was 51v . the negative voltage was when i disconnected the ve direct plug and reconnected

have tried on the main battery bank that has MPPT chargers and grid tied inverters connected to it , was reading over 600V

then tried a backup battery bank that is disconnected from other devices and still have 600V readings ???

I thought victrons meant to be quality hardware why is every part of this build being faced with issues ??

all that is connected is Red wire going to positive of battery and the Negative is connected to the shunt side opposite all the cables Grey/AUX is untouched , this is the water proof version with integrated cables

so it seems unit was DOA

fuse was fine , unit does not power up when connected to battery
(this is what I thought should have happened when i first installed it ),
only powers on when ve.direct cable is connected
and bought another ve-direct to usb cable for no reason as nothing wrong with cable as i thought it was data corruption ) ,

as it still shows high random battery voltages even when battery disconnected so somethings amiss between battery connection and logic board

Hi @MasterCATZ

Did you use an official (isolated) VE.Direct cable between the Venus OS device? As then it would be weird that the device is powered when the VE.Direct cable is connected as the Venus OS should then never provide power to the SmartShunt.

Kind regards,
Thiemo van Engelen

ve direct to usb , ve direct cable , mk3 to usb and some other thing that I think was a VE.Bus Smart dongle they added for free came from facebook marketplace as a lot , as I had to go hunting down more cables after the mk3 to usbc that I did buy new officially from victron wholesaler proved useless as the android app did not support configuration changes and i needed a way to setup the multiplus 2’s

so it looks like in the end it was my mega pulse that killed the unit initially

no where in the information provided with the unit did it say the device was not polarity protected
if it did i would have removed the mega pulse at the beginning

apparently the mega pulse would have had to been relocated to the aux cable
