2x Felicity FLB48314TG1-H in parallel on Multiplus II 6k5 GX

Hi,

I have two Felicity FLB48314TG1-H batteries connected in parallel via a Lynx Distributor to my Multiplus II 6k5 GX. The batteries are interconnected with their communications cable (seems to be a straight through 1:1 RJ45 Patch cable). And one of the batteries is connected with the typical Felicity Pin 3,4 to 8,7 cable to the VE.CAN port of my Multi. The other VE.CAN port is terminated with a blue Victron termination plug.

The CAN settings on Venus are set to 500k and Venus finds a Pylontech battery (which again is typical for Felicity’s emultation). However, the readings of the battery seem to only show one of the two batteries. Multiplus’ DC readings are 100A charging the battery, however the battery displayed on Venus only shows 50A. The other 50A of course go to the other battery but that is not displayed, so my readings are off. If I enable “show DC loads” the “missing” 50A appear as an “imaginary” DC load, which in fact is the 2nd battery. Also metering it with a clamp meter shows 50A on each battery and 100A from the Multi.

The two FLB batteries do not have DIP switches anymore. The manual says, just connect them via the cable, turn one battey on, the other will automatically turn on as well (this did happen for me) and everything should be auto-configured (I guess)

Since the batteries are also connected to Felicity’s FSolar App via WiFi I can display several settings of the batteris. Both batteries show “units in series / parallel: 1”. Also I noticed, when I switch off the Multi and then turn off one battery it immediately turns back on again. I need to long-press both battery soft-switches 3 seconds at the same time to make them both turn off and have them stay off. Since the batteries don’t have any DIPSwitches the 2nd battery’s bus is not terminated, I could crimp an adapter, so I can plug in a Victron termination dongle to the adapter so it terminates pins 3,4 on the 2nd felicity battery.

The two “com-ports (RJ45)” are not labled individually and the manual of the battery shows the inverter connected on one page to the lower port and on the other page to the upper port. So I guess it doesn’t matter since it should be a bus. However I tried some configurations: battery upper 2 upper, lower 2 lower, upper 2 lower etc. Didn’t change a thing. Unofortunately the manual is quite sparse on how to connect the batteries in parallel and configure them.

Any suggestions on what I might be missing? @Angie-Felicity maybe you can have a look at this?

@Dark-Sider I can only suggest to run from the inverter can to the top port on one battery to be designated master. Then from bottom battery port to top port of last battery. I’d expect only the inverter side to require a terminator. It is important to start the batteries from the master. Just a thought.

Yes, exactly that setup was my initial setup. That’s when I noticed that the BMS is only reporting 50% of the charge / discharge current. The Felicity Ports have the following PIN-Out:

  1. CAN-GND
  2. +5-BUS
  3. CANL-PCS
  4. CANH-PCS
  5. RS485-B
  6. RS485-A
  7. CANL
  8. CANH

Does anyone know what kind of Protocol the batteries use to talk to each other?

I assume that CAN-PCS is only for the “master-BMS” to the Inverter, so it could be either the other CAN-Bus or RS485.

In that case, CAN-PCS could be terminated at each battery (because it might be setup point-to-point. Don’t know about the other protocols though.
