Split Phase- Faults When PE is Connected

Hello everyone,

I’m having an issue with my Victron setup and hope someone here can help.

Setup:

• I am running two Victron Multiplus II 5000 inverters in split-phase mode (one phase per inverter).

• Both inverters are connected to a common PE and N busbar.

• The system is based on a TN-C-S grid.

• AC-Out is not connected.

• Split-phase with 120-degree configuration has been set.

Problem:

As long as the PE connections of the two inverters are not joined, everything runs smoothly, and the inverters synchronize correctly.

However, once I connect the PE lines of the two inverters, they go into fault mode:

• Inverter 1: Error code 1

• Inverter 2: Error code 3

What I’ve tested so far:

  1. Both inverters work perfectly fine when operating individually.

  2. PE connections appear clean and low-resistance.

  3. Continuity and functionality of all relays have been tested.

Does anyone have any ideas on what might be causing this issue? Or any additional steps I could take to narrow it down?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Best regards,
