Solar Charged Golf Cart

Not too complicated but kind of out of the norm for what I do. A company in my town that does tours and taxi services in the downtown area during tourist season asked me to see if I could extend the use of their electric golf carts and give them the ability to advertised as “solar powered”. This cart has (5) 110 watt of solar on the roof in series. Its the most I could fit up there.

Can you describe the system in a bit more detail. MPPT size, Battery Monitor, etc.

Being that it is 5 panels in series it can put out over 100V. So I used a 150/35 MPPT and a 400V DC breaker.

No battery monitor. This cart has shunt based battery monitor integrated into the system that seamed to work pretty well so we didn’t go with a separate battery monitor. However a BMV or Smartshunt would have been easy to install.
