So here we are a year later after i asked this question in this thread ; RS6000 Smart / Parallel setup has anything changed on this in the last year ?
No, the shared battery requirement is unlikely to change - its the architecture.
We can have a RS without a battery ala pv inverter-ish.
We have new models without mppts, rackmount ones etc.
I would expect to see more momentum on certifying grid-attached parallel units.
We have no idea when. If you are hoping to ask victron then that is best done through their official channels on their contact us page. It isn’t the purpose of the community.

No, no intention of asking Victron anything - i know us lowly end users dont get replies on things like this, but you never know what another member here may know about such things.
So the only real way to do what i want is to have 2 separate inverter systems - each with its own battery - on a transfer switch. In this way if one inverter group goes down due to a battery issue then we can activate a transfer switch to bring the other inverter group on its on battery that is still up, online and take over the loads ? Only downside is everything goes down for a short time while switching over - not ideal but seems this is the best we will ever get if we want battery redundancy as well as inverter redundancy.
Do any of the new RS inverter units act as a true redundant group if one in the group go down for any reason?
With the Vebus systems you can now create a microgrid that achieves similar objectives, it currently has some limitations like no AC power sources - so offgrid, no generator etc.
The RS inverter does have redundancy up to 12 units. No grid though, so you’d need an alternative charge source.
The battery isn’t typically the failure point.
The RS parallel setup is really cool vs the legacy multis.
Sadly no new news. With all the new RS and HS hardware releases, I would be very surprised if a lot of focus won’t be applied to qualifying and certifying these units for parallel use. But, we too are mushrooms ![]()
well you say its not normally the battery - except i have just had a Freedomwon 20/16 battery replaced under warranty for a brand new unit - batteries do die for one reason or another - so in our case we were down and in the dark - not for an inverter issue - we went dark on a battery issue.
I still want 2 complete standalone battery systems. Just how to get there is the thing,.
when you say the RS inverter - you do mean the Inverter RS 48/6000 Smart ? Is still the only one that is truly redundant ?
Don’t get me started on FW batteries and cell issues.
On a non-modular system you are in trouble if the only battery has a fault.
I opted to trade in to avoid the downtime, but thats a whole different topic.

Is there a reason why you want the RS6000?.. maybe the noise of the MP series? But that can be reduced by using quieter fans with temperature controlled speed control.
