SmartSolar MPPT VE.Can 250/100 shows voltage but zero PV current and 0W power

I have a Victron system with a SmartSolar MPPT VE.Can 250/100 rev2 connected to a Cerbo GX running Venus OS 3.72.

System details:

  • 8 solar panels
  • PV voltage around 184V
  • Battery system at 48V
  • Battery currently at 52.9V and in float stage
  • MPPT firmware is up to date
  • VE.Can connection is direct from MPPT to Cerbo GX (no intermediate devices)
  • Cable length around 3 meters

Problem:
The MPPT consistently shows:

  • PV voltage around 184V
  • PV current constantly 0.0A or “–”
  • PV power 0W

It does not disconnect from the system and stays visible in the Cerbo GX.

Battery charging side seems normal and stable, but there is no solar input being registered.

The issue started suddenly one day without changes to configuration. The only related event I remember is a previous overtemperature warning.

What I have checked so far:

  • Wiring looks intact
  • VE.Can connection is direct and stable
  • System does not show communication dropouts
  • MPPT firmware is updated
  • Battery is in float stage but PV input stays at 0W regardless of load

Question:
What could cause correct PV voltage but zero current and zero power on a SmartSolar MPPT?

Check your PV polarity.

Are you allowing for, if batteries are in float mode the mppt may well be at zero charging !!!

Once system goes to bulk charging, does mppt charge at normal levels?
