SmartLithium 12.8V 330Ah sideways installation

Hi,
after just looking at the dimensions I bought a 330Ah battery to replace the used 100Ah Battery in my RV. When installing it I read the manual and noticed that it explicitly says that this battery may not be installed sideways. This is bad because I planned to do so, as it fits really nicely into the heated battery area sideways. Now I am wondering, what could go wrong? As I am at max charging and discharging this battery with 30A I would consider it safe if cooling is the issue. And my system is monitoring the battery temperature anyway. I can’'t really think of a different reason. Since it is meant to be placed in a boat or RV it should be robust enough to handle some G forces from all directions. So what could I be missing, why is the 330Ah variant the only upright citizen.

And please do not just say that I should not have bought exactly this model or should have done more research beforehand. This was an unintentional mistake but shipping batteries around to return it is also not easy or cheap. :face_with_diagonal_mouth:

Best Regards,
Andre

The cells or balancing board becoming dislodged under vibration would be the primary concern, with risk to warrantability being a secondary concern, since that would be an improper installation.

Yes, batteries are designed to be able to handle forces and vibration from multiple directions, but gravity is always down, so correct orientation of heavy components with respect to gravity is usually wise.
…not saying that damage would be caused, only that it certainly could be, and where a user manual expressly states that something may not be done, it is usually best to heed the instruction.
