Renogy RSP200D vs RSP200DC Solar Panels

Just thought I’d let everyone know that Renogy no longer sells RSP200D panels and has transitioned to RSP200DC panels and RSP200D panels are no longer available and the two are not compatible. I have 8 RSP200D panels (5 installed in series) in front of a 150/100 Victron and bought 2 more for a future 5S/2P upgrade for a total of ten panels for my shop. After clicking “Buy Again” on Amazon in the morning and checking out the specs, I realized that these two new panels ARE NOT THE SAME although Amazon sells the panels as the same item. A VOC of 23V on the RSP200D vs 37.4V on the RSP200DC are completely different animals. So now I have to rethink my system…. I have a 100/50 Victron controller that I’m thinking I can run the older RSP200D panels in a 4S2P configuration as not seen an open circuit voltage higher than around 94V, and then start with the 2 newer RSP200DC panels on the 150/100 Victron controller and add on at a later date. Don’t get me wrong, the new 200W Renogy panels are way more efficient, a little bit smaller and are 16BB. For 152 bucks a panel, I won’t send ‘em back.

That would be 94v @ 25 Celsius. How cold does it get at your location?

At 0c the panel Voc will be about 8% higher. That would be above the 100-50 input voltage limit.
