Hi, am fitting a Victron Energy Orion-Tr Smart 12/12V 18A DC to DC charger to my Peugeot van in order to charge a 100ah LiFePO4 leisure battery. I will use 16mm2 wiring to connect them up, along with 60 amp fusing on both ends. I am struggling to find a suitable location for the DC to DC charger, especially in mind that it gets hot when operating. The best location I can find is near the car starter battery in the engine bay (as shown in the photo). I understand that it is recommended to fit the DC to DC charger as close as possible to the house battery, but this is about as close as I can ger! Will this setup create any problems? The house battery will be under the passenger seat around 2m cable length (of 16mm2 thickness wire) distance. Thanks for any help on this one!
If you install it under another seat, 16mm² will be sufficient. I would never install it under the hood because it can get wet or damaged by water. This is just my opinion.
