Hi community
I have 3xQuattro-II 5k, one MPPT RS450/200 and 16 Pylontech US2000C batteries.
Since the night suddenly two of the batteries seem to malfunction, and in Cerbo is shows High AND Low Cell alarms. Discharge was blocked and even charge – but still the system started charging in the morning. Suddenly now it stopepd charging and starts again slowly even if Cerbo shows all is blocked.
I switched off the two batteries with should have the issues, but it does not change a thing, Also Cerbo still shows all 16 modules and low cell for one of the switched-off modules.
What shall I do? Other from exchanging the batteries.
Is it fine to have the switched-off batteries still connected electrically but bypass the communication cable to have the faulty batteries drop from the overall system? Or do I have to disconnect them electrially as well??
Sorry for all the questions … again such a morning …
Best Regards
Usually only the batteries with the problem goes off-line and the CCL should be automatically adjusted lower to reflect it. I have personally not seen the whole bank blocked as a result of one battery. If you turn the problem batteries off, it should be fine to bypass the comms as e.g. the pos power connectors are on the same bus and are disconnected from the cells when turned off. Does however not make sense to keep them there if they need attention.
Yes, strange behavior. Cerbo said 2 modules blocking discharge.
I turned them back on and now the system says no discharge lock anymore but charge lock remains.
Of cause I plan to address the issue, just for the time being I was not sure if its fine to switch them just off and if I really have to electrically disconnect them for the rest of the system not to act up.
Look at the current limits in VRM as attached or rconsole under the parameters section of the batteries to see how the system is impacted.
Looks normal’ish … I hope that after replacing the two batts which make trouble it goes back to normal operation … all those alarms …
Maybe worth your are on the latest firmware for the victron products, that your charge parameters are setup up correctly and also contact Pylontech to see what they recommend. High voltages could result during balancing on a cell / cells and while I had some on the odd occasion, I have not seen any after the above steps.
