PV set up parallel and series

Hi all, the community has been so helpful in the past, just running this past you, I think it’s right, trying to lower V and raise amps, panels currently in series so want to combine parallel and series, is the drawing attached correct? Is this the way it’s done?

Thats not going to work if all panels have the same specs, you will have one low voltage/high amp string connected to a high voltage/low amp string, effeciency is going to drop fast, wasting pv energy

You can series/parallel them but the amount needs to be equal with no shading

So 2x 4 in series, or 4x 2 in series

All depends on the panel specs and mppt/inverter specs if this is possible at all

Thank you Marc, makes sense
The panels are 400w, 46.4voc, 10.97a.
The Inverter is 24v, with nominal 240vdc & max 500vdc.
I think the inverter should handle pv’s in Series, however cables getting a little warm (have redone all the crimps) so thinking too many volts in series?

You will connect the PV Pannels directly to the Inverter/Loads ?

Volts won’t cause cables to heat up, amps causes that.
Hence why high voltage power lines can carry so much power.

Hi Steffen, yes, connected to inverter, and sorry should have said the 35mm2 cables to the 10kw lithium battery

Ah, that’s interesting thought other way, that being the case think I am best keeping it in series, thank you

You have no other choice than series wit this inverter, voltage would be to low

As said in the reply’s, amps heat cable’s, how warm are they? To hot to touch?

Hi Marc, yes was thinking the same as would bring voc at 238v, I am learning and experimenting they are warm and can handle, just concerned with regards to the Battery
