Placing Chargers on 'standby' (only on certain models?)

My old Victron 12/30 charger had a physical switch with ‘standby’ or ‘on’ selection.

Having purchased two new Victron chargers, I was rather hoping that I’d have the option to select these to ‘standby’ or ‘on’ in the bluetooth app, but I can’t find such an option.

In the winter, with batteries unused, I like to turn on the charger for 48 hours every 3 to 4 weeks rather than leaving it on continuously. I was hoping to do this remotely via bluetooth rather than having to access the chargers to turn off.

I know that this feature is available for some chargers. Is this a hidden feature, or does it not exist for these two chargers?

(b) Victron Energy Phoenix Smart IP43 Charger 12V 30A (3 Outputs)

On-site configuration via Bluetooth and later communication via a smart network between Charger / Shunt etc.
but no remote access (via normal channels) … for this you always need a GX device and then of course a mobile access / network

My bad. I meant ‘remotely’ as still within Bluetooth range of the chargers, rather than an alternative remote location.

I was hoping that I could avoid accessing the boat to turn them off and do it from the dockside or carpark.

Guess I’ll need to fit a separate Bluetooth controlled power socket for this!

The real problem here is probably the range. I’m sometimes surprised that Bluetooth gets over 10 metres at all. But a boat … a repaeter with good positioning would probably be best … then you would probably get to your charger with the PIN.

What would be your ‘distance’?

If necessary, you can take a look at the user interface from the demo library in Victron Connect

Oh, there’s no problem with range at all.
For example, imagine boat in boatyard, weather is wet and cold. Can drive to boat and be well within Bluetooth range, as in 5m away from the charger, but want to avoid getting ladders out etc.

The issue is that for these products, there’s no option I can see in Victron Connect to place them into a ‘standby’ mode i.e. accessible by Bluetooth but not charging.

but you certainly always have the option of setting the charging current to 0 … or not

Nope. The minimum Max current is 3A on one and 2A on the other!

oh that’s right … and learnt something again :yum:
So the topic of radio / smart socket again

It would be great to have the ability to put these chargers on standby via App if that’s technically possible.

Is there a mechanism for requesting that this option could be added to the App for these chargers?
