No 48V Lynx-BMS NG Schematic? - 48V isolator switches

I’m setting up to install a 48V NG system in a boat but can’t see any schematics available yet?

Blue Sea isolator switches are used in all the other schematics but no version available for 48V. Looks like the 275A Victron is only option so should this be used for the MultiPlus and Orion DC-DC’s?

Or is it best not to use any physical switches after the Lynx Distributor and just use a remote switch for the Lynx-BMS to operate main contactor? (REM terminals 10 & 11 on Lynx multi-connector).

Would be great if there’s an official schematic with MultiPlus, DC-DC’s, Wakespeed etc. as it must be a popular system for boats being built right now.

Thanks, Ed

I have asked Blue Sea about the 48V rating on their m-series and e-series switches. I asked if the 48VDC rating is nominal or maximum. They won’t answer the question, but I can tell you our experience in the shop with them on some large 48V systems. We have not had any arcing or heating on large loads such as a Quattro 48/10000. For MPPT RS 450/200 MPPTs, we use the 6006 switches w/o problems. On 5kVA inverters we use also 6006 switches. For larger inverters we use the 9003e switches. I recommend removing the flange nuts Blue Sea provides and replace them with stainless steel lock washers (split washers) and nut.

Be careful with the HD series of switches. Those are only rated for 32V batteries.

I hope this helps a little.

Hi Ed.

Thanks for the reassurance. Nice to know you’ve not experienced any issues. It’s a shame Blue Sea isn’t clear if it’s a nominal rating.

And thanks for the tip about swapping out the flange nuts. Really useful.:+1:
