Multiplus, Mppt’s, batteries

My Victron system with single output phase, we sleep in the same lab.
I do also have home assistant integration with ESP32 for BMS’s where i’m able to monitor and fully control my batt banks up to cell level.I’m able to charge my both electric cars at night and the single issue that i’m facing is related to EVCS and auto mode, where it fails to start in sunny days.

Very neat and cool looking system! I have a slightly similar setup with JK BMS but have yet to integrate monitoring of the BMS. Do you have any more info available on how such integration is doable?

I added 3d printed “hats” to my terminal bridges to reduce the possibility of shorting by tools falling on the battery (still need to get some insulation on main terminals  )

Couldn’t imagine sleeping in the same space as the inverter, i can hear mine from the basement when they start charging in the early morning hours :joy:

Hi Niko, for live monitoring and full control of JK-BMS’s I’ve used home assistant platform and ESP32-wroom module (BLE communication with JK-BMS). I’ve used this github project : GitHub - syssi/esphome-jk-bms: ESPHome component to monitor and control a Jikong Battery Management System (JK-BMS) via UART-TTL or BLE. The advantage is you have full remote control on you battery system with fast data sampling. Btw, I don’t recommend using those type of fusses due to high temperature dissipation and possible hazards.

Hey thanks for the link, i must look into this!

Yeah i recently learned that mega fuses aren’t the best for battery side protection. I have not noticed any high temperature during any loads though.

I have however used these types of fuses so they are at least rated higher than the typical 32V mega fuses. At least advertise Interrupting Rating: 2500 A @ 70 V DC. But I’m not quite sure if its enough. Have to look into maybe replacing them to similar as you have.

Niko - i did the same and had wrong type of fuse initially.
Advised to use class T, read up on it and its due to the potential short circuit of the batteries.
Changed anl to class T, physically bigger than anl, but better to be safe than sorry.

There’s a german-language youtube video by “Elektronik Extrem” where he tests various brands of Mega fuses and the short circuit current of a 16S 280Ah LFP battery, and it goes up to 5500A.
All the Mega fuses he tested worked in the sense that they did extinguish the arc, but they did so by spraying molten metal all around… so for my build, I went with NH fuses at the battery.

You can replace Mega-fuses by Adler EF3, capable to clear 50kA and fitting into Lynx Distributor.

Pls find photos of my Lynx for 4x 15kWh batteries. Currently I am looking for a solution to interconnect the bat Lynx with the distributor capable to break 400A.
Jean Mueller has NH00 holders and fuses rated 80V and up to 800A for TelCo.

That are Some Nice fuse’s you got there. I try to look them op. Thanks for the idea

Very nice indeed! Is there any reseller in Europe where one can purchase these?

I hope it’s ok to post a resller here… else pls. delete.
