MPPT smart solar controller

Hi all,

Client has asked to install a 250/100 MPPT smart solar controller but also asked for solar panel voltage to be under 110v. when I try to power up the controller from the solar it immediately creates a short circuit and kill power to the whole system including the panels.

  1. Can the MPPT operate on only solar panels? or does it always need battery power present ?
  2. Does the MPPT have a internal fail safe to kills system when under voltage is present ?
  3. Will a 250/100 operate with 95v coming from solar panels ?

Answers to your questions:

1 no, needs battery
2 dont know😊
3 voltage need to be 5v higher then battery voltage to start mppt, and 1v higher when started, so 95v is ok

@futureauenergy The battery is essential and has to be connected first to allow the mppt to set the correct voltage. Please read the manual as this could be a costly mistake not covered a warranty.
