I have a 26 solarpanels, en 3 strings of wire running to the setup.
I put all variables in the mppt calculator, wich i thought was ok to put 2 strings parallel, according to the calculator.
However, i dubbelchecked with my supplier, who states it cant be done, as the max mppt current is too high, and it can damage the tracker.
Did i interpret the calculator wrong?
Dont know - what are you panels?
Datasheet?
Did you adjust for temperature compensation?
On face value, one string per tracker would be fine on a 450\200 the parrallel one above the recommended isc total.
I would not parallel strings on a tracker, why do that when there are 4?
hmm, so there seems to be an issue with the mppt calculator indeed:
In the link of @jee, his 3rd array is a 6x2 with 9.81 Impp / 10.33A Isc each - and the calculator is proposing the SmartSolar MPPT RS 450/200-MC4 even if that would exceed the 16A/20A Ratings in the datasheet.
ps.: The link doesn’t enable “Advanced Panel settings”, but the values used are preserved, it seems:
Its all in the link, see string 3.
There are only 3 strings of wire going to the installation, no possibilty to add anoher string.
So can only connect 3 sets of wire, 3 trackers. Splitting the wires at tracker 3 and connect them to tracker 3 and 4 to split the loads evenly is not an option if i am correct?
Worst case i remove some panels from the roof.
