i have 4 eco-worthy 100ah 12v lithium batteries (non Bluetooth)
connected in parallel to victron 100/50 smart charger recommended smart lithium setting
these batteries are not new and had not been charge for sometime
it did take a few days for them to fully charge
my problem now is as soon as absorption is reached all charging is cut off
i can put a lot of load on to reduce the voltage and eventually charging will restart until again absorption is reached.
any ideas ?
one thing i would like to know , in my mind if i have these 4 batteries in parallel and lets say one battery is faulty , why does not just the “faulty” battery bms cut off charging and the remaining 3 continue to charge
the first few days these batteries did charge to 100% but not reaching absorption . The discharge during the night matches pretty well as expected with connected devices.
This is normal, if the float voltage is set too low. If they are charged to e.g. 3.55V per cell, and the float voltage is set at 3.35V per cell, then when the charger goes into float mode, no current will flow until the cell voltage drops to this value.
You can add a load to bring the voltage down, but this is not the best solution. It’s better to raise the float voltage to ~3.50V per cell, if the battery is being cycled daily.
I only run mine for half hour just to balance the cells then it drops to float. As you can see below the current drops to below zero as soon as it hits 14.2V I have always regarded this as normal behaviour.
Manufacturer of my battery says float should be 13.5V and once the load has reduced the voltage to that the MPPT supplies the loads and charge sits somewhere about 99%>
having spent considerable time changings settings etc i concluded likely cell inbalance , following a guide on youtube i opened the battery ready to sort this …
