Hi community,
I’d like to charge our EV on a nightly schedule, but our nightly prices are dynamic (spot market in Czechia). I’d like to select the cheapest few hours and let EV charge during these hours. Also in 2 months, my utility company will be switching to 15-min pricing and I noticed some very odd spikes in 15-min prices recently – for example, sometimes the first quarter-hour in given hour is 4x more expensive than the previous and next one. I’d like to avoid these extreme prices ![]()
Is there some way to read/write the EVCS schedules from Node-RED? I haven’t found this in the “EV Charger Control“ node, neither in the VRM API one. Or at least set the ‘Mode’ of the EVCS (auto / manual / scheduled), to turn the scheduled mode on/off (I’d set the schedule manually to 22:00 - 06:00 and then turn it on/off via the flow). I can only see “Start/stop charging (manual mode)“:
Worst case, I could probably use “Manual” mode overnight, set some timers in Node-RED and implement the schedule using ‘Start/stop charging (manual mode)‘, but it would not be ideal to me. Also I’d still need the ability to control the EVCS Mode to switch from “Auto” to “Manual” when the night starts.
Thanks for advice or any pointers. Here’s what I see in the ‘EV Charger Control‘ node in Node-RED:
