We just finished an install with 2 10kVA Quattros, it is a pretty standard installation but we have super sensitive equipment that needs a clean energy supply and the grid is not helping and even if i program the quattros to disconnect above/below a certain voltage, for this project it is just not enough.
ideally my quattros are always in “Inverter Only” mode to ensure a clean power supply, i know there is a way of having a mix of some inverters in “Inverter Only” and other in “Charger Only” but I was wondering if it is possible to have:
2 10kVA Quattros in Inverter Only mode
2 3kVA multiplus in charger only mode
and also to feed in to the grid and have a genset.
the genset will be connected to the quattros but for the genset to charge the batteries, the quattros would need to change from “Inverter Only” to “On” i guess this change can be done with Nodered.
is it possible for the 5kVA multis to feed in into the grid if we have surplus energy? we would also need to do a bit of nodered to change them from “Charger Only” to “On”
It is a very interesting project and i am very excited to give my client a clean supply of energy!
If the load is that sensitive, then the generator may not provide a sufficiently clean supply.
It is possible to run inverters to power the load from the batteries, whilst charging the batteries from solar or grid via another set of inverters.
However, I don’t think that one cerbo will cope with this.
If you have one cerbo, then the 2xQuatro inverters supplying the load will not be connected to the cerbo by the VE-bus, but will show up as a DC load on the system.
The remaining inverters, battery and any solar charging can be connected to the Cerbo normally.
If you have a possible 20kVA of load from the 2 quatro’s, then 2x3kW mulitplus units would not be able to keep the system charged under all circumstances.
Also, the dual AC inputs of the quatro’s would not be needed in this setup, so why not use multiplus2 inverters for the loads?
i think 3kVA units would work since we don’t need the grid a lot because we have a good amount of solar, and I have learned that is easier to work with 1 quattro instead of 2 mpii. it is a little bit more expensive but worth it.
I will try this setup. maybe i cant make it all work but for sure we can learn a lot!
