Another beginner question!
My small solar setup is currently monitored by a Globallink 520 (oder model with the squared case).
In December I set up the relay to connect/disconnect a small USB charger that keeps a security camera (Arlo) topped up and running. The camera can run on its own battery for a bit. It is generally always connected. I added the relay to be able to disconnect it in case of emergency (no sun, etc.). And also because I was curious to use the relay
The amperage required from the charger is within the Globallink’s relay specs. I also added a fuse on the line and the relay has been opened/closed multiple times remotely over December without any issues.
Just earlier I was checking the set-up (in person) and switched the relay from closed to open. The Globallink immediately went off.
I tried disconnecting the power and reconnecting.
Removing the cables connected to the relay, and combination of the above, but still not working.
I’m pretty sure I switched the relay to open. But even if that wasn’t the case, I doubt the amperage spike could be high enough. But I also read online that if you drive too many amps, generally the risk is to fuse the relay’s contacts. Haven’t read of damage to the Globallink itself.
Is there a resettable fuse by any chance on the Globallink? If yes, how long till it “resets”?
I have to add:
- the first “close” command today was given via VRM
- the “open” command when the GL shut off was done via Bluetooth via Victron Connect
