Generator start/stop for ham radio Cerbo S GX

Hi. I’m using an Astron 28vdc PS into a SS mppt 100/50 and Cerbo S GX to charge and monitor two 100 Ah 12v lifepo4’s in parallel. I’ve been breadboarding hardware to use the generator start/stop functionality of the Cerbo to turn on/off the Astron PS. Turning the PS on at a low voltage threshold is a piece of cake but stopping the PS at the correct time is a different story. In order to be sure the batteries are fully charged before turning off the PS, it makes sense to me to make it happen when the charger reaches the FLOAT mode. What do you guys think about this? What do you say Victron, doesn’t this make sense? Thanks, JEB

@JEB as I read the post it did make me wonder what it had to do with “ham radio”. Anyway, I guess that may revealed later. Why don’t you simply use the features of the auto generator start to start the charging at some SOC of your choosing and stop the charging at 100% SOC. You could use the auto gen start relay to supply a switching voltage to an old fashioned relay or a mosfet solid state relay and simply supply or interrupt the mains going to the power supply.

I am guessing you had the components lying around and wanted to use them rather than just simply buy a lithium battery charger so it is good to put them to good use if they were surplus to your current requirements.
