Fuse between inverter and bus-bar

Hey

Do i really need a fuse between my inverter and busbar? From my battery to busbar the cable length is 400mm and from my busbar to the inverter is 300mm.

I have a 40 amp fuse ready to install and know the rule is a fuse and the beginning of a power source (busbar) but is it really needed?

You need a fuse for the Inverter and also the Charger. I encourage you to read the manuals, and also have a look at the book Wiring Unlimited.

I just realized there an “x2” by the MPPT solar chargers - so each one needs its own fuse between the + and + busbar.

There probably needs to be a disconnect/fuse/breaker on the PV input to each. (At least for troubleshooting).

Each MPPT has in own separate fuse coming from each panel and another fuse on each going to the busbar.

The way ive always seen the charger, if you charge you car battery with a charger with clamps to the battery, they dont have a fuse on the positive, however saying that you could question why am i putting fuses on the solar controllers then ( back to amazon for more fuses then ).

think about a mouse which damages the wiring. When your system is mounted on a wood plate, this can cause a serious fire hazard if the mouse bridges suicidally + and - and is cooked due to no fusing the wiring and this will heat it up quickly on the full length!

You need a fuse for every component to protect its wiring against shortage or overcurrent (design rule always follows the worst case onsight)

What if a bought a mouse trap and put it next to the cables, seem to be cheaper..??

I know I know, fuse for the charger has been ordered and going to install the inverter one today :wink:
