Dynamic ESS appears to reserve battery capacity for EV charging even when the EV Charging Station is set to Manual and no vehicle is connected. As a result, the battery is not fully charged during the cheapest electricity price window. The forecast still shows an “EV Charging forecast” despite the EVCS reporting “EV Disconnected”. Is this intended behaviour, or is this a bug?

It looks like in this case DESS is not reserving anything for the EVCS. However, we see that the energy planned to go from Grid to Battery is never reached. This behaviour started around the 12th of June and it’s happening consistently since then.
I hope this helps in finding what is limiting the system.

Thanks, Alex. However, on June 11th, an EV Charging forecast is present for the first time. From that moment on, the battery is no longer fully charged during the cheapest charging window. I find it hard to believe that this is completely unrelated.
My concern is that DESS is generating an EV charging forecast, and I suspect that this forecast is influencing the optimization. As a result, the battery is not fully charged during the cheapest price window. Besides that, the EV charging forecast is completely incorrect. I think it would be better to disable it. Is that possible, and if so, how?
Could you explain how the EV charging forecast is generated, whether DESS takes this forecast into account, and under which conditions it should be ignored?
Also, should the EVCS be set to Manual, Automatic, or Scheduled if I want DESS to ignore any EV charging forecast?

I saw the message and you are right, when there is a forecast it impacts the DESS schedule. We are currently testing the integration of EV data into DESS, which will solve this problem.
However, what I mentioned above still holds and it’s independent of the EVCS forecast.

At the moment the EV charging forecast is not representative of my actual usage, and it negatively affects the DESS schedule.

If not, would temporarily disabling or removing the EVCS from the GX system be the only way to prevent this?

However, using Edit Forecast would require manually adjusting the forecast every day, which isn’t really a practical solution and defeats the purpose of using Dynamic ESS.

There is currently no way to ignore the EVCS forecast. Taking the EVCS out would make the forecast disappear, yes. But then you have the opposite problem, when you do charge DESS will not have scheduled in.
From out tests and simulations, it’s better to have a forecast, even if it’s wrong at times, than no forecast at all.

Sorry to keep coming back to this topic, but I wanted to test your suggested workaround before drawing any conclusions.
I manually edited the forecast as you suggested.
After doing so, DESS created a schedule that showed the battery charging to 100% SoC.
However, the actual result was very different. The battery only reached around 58% SoC, even though the schedule clearly planned for 100%.
So, although manually editing the forecast changes the planned schedule, it does not appear that the schedule is actually executed.
Is there another reason why DESS would ignore its own planned target SoC?

Thank you for the details. The problem seems to be what I initially mentioned: the system is not able to achieve the energy planned to go into the battery.
I suspect it’s a problem with the system configuration rather than DESS itself. I asked a colleague to look into it tomorrow.

Thanks for your help again! The DVCC current limit issue is resolved. Sorry for the delayed reply, we waited a few days to test things properly before responding.
It’s since been removed entirely (in consultation with our installer), so the battery now follows its own dynamically reported charge current limit (CCL) via CAN, and charging is working well. We don’t know how it happened this was activated.
One thing I did notice: the battery now consistently plateaus at 97-98% SoC instead of reaching a true 100%. I compared today’s charge curve with the exact same date one year ago (4 August 2025), and back then the battery clearly did reach a flat 100% (twice that day, visible as a flat line right at the 100% mark on the VRM chart). Now the plateau sits noticeably below that, around 97-98%, even with ample solar and time available.
Any idea what could cause this, or is this expected behavior?
