I am installing a Quattro II and as I understand it has a battery monitor system. Should I also install a Smart Shunt as a battery monitor?
Which version of Quattro-II, what batteries, and what else is on the system?
Typically the internal battery monitor on these units only works if it’s the only source of charge and discharge, but I see the 230v versions seem to talk up the usefulness of the internal battery monitor much more than the 120v version, so I’m not sure if there’s an internal difference there.
If you only have VE.Bus (Multi/Quattro) devices, the built-in battery monitor works fine. If you have a GX device, VE.Bus device(s), and MPPT(s), the built-in battery monitor also works fine. If you have any other source or loads, then you’ll want a battery monitor such as the SmartShunt. If you have batteries that communicate directly with a GX device, then the BMS is your battery monitor.
Thanks Ed@Off-Grid Power systems! This was my understanding from reading the manual!
