Proxmox Virtual Environment or PVE.
It’s a virtualisation system allowing you to run multiple independent operating systems on a single hardware platform (host).
I have one at home which runs Home Assistant, my network management software, a VPN gateway so I can connect to my home network away from home, and many other things.
It used to be a little tricky with hardware dongles if you wanted to add Bluetooth and Zigbee for example but you can now plug them into the host and use pass through to the virtual machine running home assistant so HA uses them as if it was running on a physical hardware.
That’s surprising. I’ve been running a Yellow for nearly a year and not had any trouble with it. What issues did you have?
I’ll be switching to Promox in the house soon though and moving the Yellow to the campervan.
It was allegedly new (never used) BUT I SUSPECT that the person I purchased it from had never used it BUT the person he purchased it from {pure conjecture} had gone in and set up their user name and password. AS when I connected it the page displayed was not the new user {input your info page} but the following page asking you to log into your account with user name and password.
The person that sold it to me said that he had never used it. SO I tried quite a few things (after posting Help Me in the HA user forum)
I tried to communicate with it using the USB C connection so I could change the user and password info NOPE
I tried a Hard Factory Reset NOPE and then I discovered that the LED that was blinking was the Green one not the Yellow one (BIG EXCUSE I am Colour Blind) Taking a close up picture of the three LEDs I could ‘now’ determine that it was the Green one that was permanently illuminated. One thing that can cause that is low voltage from the power brick. I tested that with my expensive DVM NOPE The other suggestion was a corrupt HA O/S and the fix for that was to reinstall the HA O/S. BUT as I was going to be busy installing two additional batteries to my system and as I was seriously tired of playing HA Yellow games, and as I was so exasperated that I was ready to throw this wee box in the bin, I returned it to the person who sold it to me, to either get it working and obviously give me the user name and password or give me a refund.
