Hi guys, designing my system. Looking to go with 60 550 watt solar panels. Firstly better to have strings parallel or series wired and what charge controller do you recommend. 46kw battery single phase
You might need 2 of the 450/200-Tr. They have 4 MPPTs. If you can do 8 per a string and the voltage is under 450 you can have 7 strings of 8 and then one left over will have 4.
That will get you over 400amps of charge into the battery at about 22kW. You are best to set these arrays East West. If you want to setup a large North facing array or South depends where you are from you will need to use 3 units to get the most out of 33kW of solar panels.
Ask your local Victron dealer/installer for help:

Or take a look at the MPPT calculator:
Thanks for that, I am in Ireland. Array will be South west facing as I am near west coast and as close as possible to 38 degrees for winter sun. Illl be doing the donkey work, mountings, burying cables and when ready call a professional to wire.
What is a 550 water solar panel? Spec of.
Do i read correctly- 60no. Of these panels and you are asking if all strings to be series connected? That would be some seriously high DC voltage.
Sorry 48 volt 550 watt
A string of 8 of your panels in series makes almost 400V and probably a current of 80 A. You can have two of these strings in parallel and use a Victron Smartsolar 450/200 to charge your battery.
64 panels 550 Wp, 4 Victron Smartsolar 450/200, and you are done.
String of 8 in series would be 11.45A / 384v, not allowing for temp coefficient.
Details are all very vague, so any advice can only be very vague.
