Driving us away from the original community portal to the new one!
It is rather irritating to deal with captcha as well as the cookie tracking syndrome that companies employ.
Your tags do not cover all possible issues. Suggestion, do not dictate what should be entered, but allow for a custom entry as well ------ in this case it is Community PORTAL.
That is one of the many reasons we have a new forum, and we had no control over it, it was trying to fix another (very longstanding) issue, and as a result we have fast-tracked the move.
It was even more annoying for the mod team who spend more time than most on the old site.
Tags are limited as they are the basis for future search functionality, so we have worked hard to refine the list and will continue to do so. Allowing custom tags creates a whole new kind of problem, similar to that which made searching on the old one difficult. There should be tags for most things, if one is missing, let us know.

I know it’s awful and the absolute last resort.
The alternative was the site being regularly unavailable to humans due to persistent 503 errors from overloads.
The site could no longer handle the scale we were at, nor the attention that attracted from (apparently malicious) robots.
Once we have completed the URL transition to this site I will see if it can be removed again when it’s just a read-only archive.
Please request new tags in New Community Feedback - Victron Community - we have allowed people to create their own tags in the past and it was total mess, now we have to curate.
@Guy, Thank you for your and Nick’s response. I was hoping to eliminate having to scroll through the entire tag list which is quite lengthy. If members create permanent tags list would result in a longer and less meaningful tag list. Pity one could not have temporary tags purely to differentiate the topic from any other. You enter it and it does not become part of the tag list but is part of the topic itself and is searchable.
@gehring There are UI changes planned, not sure if that will help with tagging. Guy would know. Given the old site issues, it was better to move everyone as is and then improve the interface.
I also implemented auto-tagging by keyword, which helps with the main products.
I agree, the default search method is cumbersome.
@nickdb, @guystewart, You have both provided responses that can be categorised as a solution. How does one go about selecting all the suitable responses as an acceptable solution to the original posting? The best I could do is select “Like” your responses.
@nickdb, I will wait for your feedback regarding the system configurability to allow multiple solution selections. I seem to have clicked on it too many times.
Its not a great solution, but you can deselect the solution you chose and summarise the answers that helped and then select that instead.
I’m not sure discourse is multi-answer friendly.
