Choosing a charge controller

I currently have a single Xantrex 220W panel charging through a Victron MPPT 75/15 charge controller. I want to add two additional Xantrex 115W panels. How do I figure what charge controller to use? What is the wiring configuration for this? Fisheries Supply suggested using a separate controller for each panel but that doesn’t seem to make sense to me. (1996 Tiara 4000 Express)

Then you will have a 12V on board?
Please give us some more information about your equipment and welcome to the forum

Parallel or in series …
A bit of the same problem as here …

12 volt. Series or parallel is not yet decided. But I’m thinking parallel.

If you can “only” add 2 panels, you have an arrangement of 3 … this is of course bad for a “mixed” arrangement … such as 2+2
You can now only connect all 3 in series and connect them to one Mppt. Then you have the advantage of the higher voltage and that the charge controller reaches its working voltage relatively early.
Will all the modules be lying flat at 90° on the deck?

Yes all three will be flat on the hardtop, pretty much right next to each other.

Then there is nothing to be said against a series connection with only one MPPT

Have you got a Datasheet ?

No I don’t

The open-circuit voltage of your module x3 + 20V and you have your regulator … that should be a 100/30 again …

…lucky you with a flat roof.:slightly_smiling_face: As Steffen mentioned above, it is worth to read my struggles in that topic with 4 or 5 panels, basically only 2 are near each other and in the same angle and the rest…argh…:face_with_spiral_eyes:
Your case seems way easier.:+1:t2:

Flatroof … check :heavy_check_mark:
Panels with the same angle … check :heavy_check_mark:

Heated 24/7 … :x:
Curtain room … :x:

Yeah. I am jealous. He has a clear case on his boat.

I don’t understand this response.

Sorry … Insider … Check the linked Post from Toffifee … its just entertainment

I think he mentioned your approx calculation with the voltage when he said he doesn’t understand your response. Not our jokes. But maybe I am wrong.
(I understood both🙂)

I suggest you to watch this video. I think you will find it very helpful.
