Why not just capture the two 120v feeds coming from genset with a Vicrton 100a AutoTransformer? It will convert those two 120v to 240v (out-of-phase) hence the Victron Inverter will allow generator current to flow to L2 as well as L1. Is that correct description of what happens? Puts 2 in-phase 120v out-of-phase?
ED Some big motor-homes use 240v for their induction cook-tops, and possibly other things also. I want to have the option to install one of those cook tops like a few of my friends motor-homes have in them.
Yes, I’m aware. In that case, if you want to operate a 240V appliance then use two Victron inverters configured in a split-phase configuration. Easy peasy.
So I guess no one is a fan of the AutoTransformer.
It just won’t work in the manner you want it to. I think you would enjoy, and benefit from, watching some YouTube videos that explain single, split, and three phase power. They will help explain phase angles or phase rotation.
Don’t know if you got your answer. Seems like a whole lot of “in the weeds” conversations going on. No offense. There are a lot of smart people here. However I have successfully set up multiple 3 wire generators to the two wire Cerbo relay using the Elevation 2 - 3 wire auto generator start module. It works seamlessly. Its almost too simple. I am surprised no one has mentioned it. Perhaps they have and I didn’t notice.
That’s a good tip. Similar to the Atkinson modules.
Perhaps similar in end result but less expensive and much simpler to install. Three wires from the generator come in to the module, two wires go out to the Cerbo relay. There are some DIP switches that can be changed if necessarym but that’s it. Here are a couple of wiring diagrams.

Thanks for the additional tip. How does this handle colder diesel start, which requires longer glow plug times for cold weather?

Doc, I’ve not used the Elevation controller. I learned about it from the @TherealKT above. It’s a bit more basic but might be just fine. The closest thing to a manual I could find is an image located here: Elevation AGS Auto-Gen Start Module - Trek Systems
The GSCM-WiFi has programmable delays and I know it works for diesels. But, you will pay an extra $100 for the GSCM. Hopefully @TherealKT can weigh in with their experience using the Elevation module with Onan diesels.
I don’t know specifically how the elevation accommodates for glow plugs but it seems to have a delay. My installations have been on Onan diesels and it functioned correctly. Although I never had to use it in very extreme cold. Elevation is in Indiana. You could give them a call for specifics. I have had this question myself and will be calling them Monday. 574-773-0546
