Can I use a 250A fuse on 300Ah battery

Hello everyone,

I generally understand how batteries, wires and fuses work. But there are gaps in my knowledge hence my question: can I use a 250A Class T fuse on a 300Ah battery, if its charge and discharge currents are under 200A?

My 280Ah lipo battery has a charge current of 160A, a “max discharge current” of 200A and a “discharge over current” of 215A.

I don’t know my loads in advance but the biggest load is likely to be a Quattro 10k.

Where I’m located, it can be difficult (but not impossible) to get reputable big fuses. I already have good 250A fuses lying around.

Yes, because the fuse should only blow if there is a short circuit (and the battery will produce more amps in a short circuit). For an over current draw, the bms should shut down as well.

The Quattro 10kVa will be 2x 200A. With 2x50mm² or 2x95mm² battery cables. Best performance is the 95.

Understood. Thanks.
