Hi everyone. I’m trying to get confirmation of whether my 2011 Quattro 48/5000/70 is capable of running a lithium cell system for grid loss backup. I understand that I’d need a GX device to do this such as the Cerbo GX Mk2, but unsure if this vintage Quattro will play ball with probably Pylontech batteries. I’m limited to what batteries I can get as the system is on a Mediterranean Island with limited access to batteries. I see that Pylontech are in the Victron approved list, but unsure if it possible given the age of the inverter. I don’t believe it has been updated since it was installed in 2011 when it was setup with Rolls deep cycle lead acid batteries. The latter are now dying and hence the need to do something. Thanks in advance. Edit. I should say it is grid fed only these days.
If you can upload the latest firmware to it, then there should be no problem…
Thanks. That’s really the unknown bit in what version it can go to. Probably can’t go fully to latest version, so I’m hoping someone has done this before. Otherwise it will be a bit of a trial and hopefully it will work. If not, then additional cost to replace the inverter.
