What device do you use to gather the engine data? I have a Yanmar 3JH4E on my sailboat and would love to record RPM mainly, but also temp and oil pressure, But I haven’t been able to find how to collect and record this data.
There are two integrations available in VenusOS to gather engine data:
- NMEA2000 (PGN 127490, 128002, 127488, 127489, 127493)
- CANopen (Sevcon gen4, Curtis E/SE and F controllers)
However, it’s unlikely that your engine will output NMEA2000 out of the box.
Alternatively, there is also the option to go down the Node-RED path where you are free to gather the data however you want and inject them into VenusOS as a virtual E-Drive.
Note that while technically possible to report data from an ICE, the boat page is designed and aimed at electric drives.
My diesel engine alternator is controlled by a Wakespeed WS500 so I can get engine rpm from that, plus the GPS gives me a few readings on the boat page so I do not have to go into devices to find the info. An Arco Zeus alternator controller would also do this.
