Retired Chemical (Process) Engineer (2014) after having worked in oil and gas for 41 years. Emigrated to Bolivia 9 days after retiring. Bought a house in 2508 sq m of land (all sand) and started creating a tropical garden with fruit trees, flowers and exotics. Extended the garden by another 1003 sq metres in 2022 and in 2023 installed a 9.4 kW PV system. Tweaked it for a year and then started selling power to the local company. I have reduced my electricity bills by a factor of 10.
I have just celebrated my 76th birthday. So far I have saved more than 8500 kg of CO2 in a period of 18 months. System now operates at maximum capacity instead of winding back when demand was low.
