Back again - We have been carrying an 32A Autotransformer for fitting in Canada to allow us to handle North American shore power. Our Canadian electrician has not seen one before and the diagrams in the manual do not show our specific setup which is from US shore power socket (normal three wire hot - black, earth - green and neutral - white) to our 240v input which is standard eu three wire setup - brown - live, blue - neutral and green- earth. As we are an aluminium boat we have specific grounding requirements - no grounding to the hull. The closest diagram we have found is with black to 120 line 1, neutral to Neutral on the 120 side, blue and brown to their respective terminals on the 240v 32A side and both greens connected to the earth terminal on the right hand side. Any advice welcome or pointers.
I can’t comment on the autotransformer.
But there are other methods for charging from grids of a variety such as the phoenix ip43. It is probably easier unless you have larger loads in the boat that only work when plugged into shore?
