Understood it is generally a good idea to keep firmware and not move to the latest on Multiplus 2 120 50. However, I am looking to solve 2 issues. One knowing when (how will I be notified) I should upgrade firmware.
most importantly - see if an upgrade version will help with a noisy unit (humming).
Secondary issues is how to do this from VRM portal. Seems options for updating software from the portal for Multiplus
You won’t be notified as there is generally no need to upgrade unless you have an issue.
You can sign up to blogs etc which announce the major releases.
Your unit has a massive transformer in it, no firmware will ever de-hum it.
The process for remote updates is well documented and easily found via some basic googling - “victron vebus remote firmware upgrade”.
I understand the massive transform bit well. However, I do find it makes significantly more noise at times. Recently narrowed it down to the quality or profile of the power we are getting from campground poles. The Multiplus is under our bed - so any improvements that may come would be appreciated.
I have gone through documentation and googled the above. For whatever reason I am never offered the link/button to remote firmware upgrade. I obviously am missing some step or whatever but can’t figure it out.
screenshot attached shows two links which do not appear on my screen to review Firmware. I have gone through the documentation again just now to no avail.
Missing a service but have checked and seems that I have done what is needed from the documentation.
This process should not be underestimated; it is a multi-step procedure that is really intended for professional system installers. We don’t prevent people from doing it, but they must be warned they could get stuck, and then potentially be without power
Thanks Guy. Appears as my user rights are neither. How do I change rights to admin or tech

VRM user permissions are set by the first person who registers the site with VRM. They will receive Admin by default, and then have a choice on the access level that other people they invite to the site.
The GX device VRM mode can be set by the installer credential on the GX device.
These are both set by the installer when first installing the system. If any of these are restricted it is best to talk to your original installer, or Victron dealer.
Thanks again for the help. This driving me a bit crazy. I am the one who set the VRM. My profile has admin rights. Yet I can’t access the features circled. I did have two previous installs assume all with me as admin. Haven’t double check but will. Maybe something is inherited (?). Will try to set up a new profile shared as Tech and see
