What causes the grid to add a bit extra onto the battery consumption in ess mode, is there a way of stopping this as over a year it can amount to several hundred pounds especially when on a tariff that is more expensive during day time when i only want to use battery. Ive tried adjusting the grid set point in ess settings to various levels but it still draws something from the grid, probably as much as im exporting , but i have to pay for what its importing.
Could the voltage differences be the issue, as my mp2 is set to 230v but my grid is 245v most of the time.
The MP is “trying” to keep the grid set point at 0. (Or whatever setpoint you specify)
So, a load has to hit the grid, get noted by the meter, get picked up by the gx, send to the multi, which then can finally adjust it’s feedin power.
This process takes a few milliseconds and happens continiously as power requirements change, but having a flow happening is inevitable while beeing grid connected.
You can reduce it, by setting a negative grid setpoint, so the deviation from the configured -50 watts will be in the range of -80 to -20 most the time, not pulling from grid.
However, that would be technically more expensive than buying 4 kWh a month from grid.
Don’t worry about that, it will sum up to a few bucks per year, not hundrets as you are afraid of.
